The Sayings of Wotan

Hi Color

This recipe, like Old Film, is based on the “Pro Neg” sims. I’m not actually very familiar with what the origin of those is. This recipe uses the”Hi” variant, hence the unimaginative name.

Like Soft Color, this sits between Bold Color and the lower saturation Old Film and Cool Color. Soft Color is closer to a general-purpose color sim but, owing to being based on Astia, is also the warmest.

Pro Neg Hi is rather naturally subdued and has a fairly retro look at normal saturation. However, it looks very nice with the saturation turned up. For my first sample, I am presenting an old building located on private property in Independence, TX. The property owner has placed an old-fashioned gravity gas pump. This is something I would normally shoot with a more retro look (indeed, the original is Sepia), but it works to show off the colors of this recipe.

Terlingua Cemetery in the Big Bend region of West Texas is a frequent subject of mine. It’s an eclectic place, full of graves of anonymous cinnabar miners who died in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries marked only by simple wooden crosses, to inhabitants of the area old and new, to people who love the region and desire to be buried this. This person obviously has a love of the Chihuahuan Desert, The Lord of the Rings, and a few other things. Whilst you should always be respectful of the dead, this is a tourist attraction as well, and the modern inhabitants of the cemetery know they are going to be looked at and photographed.

It looks like these are the only two samples I generated. I’ll have to do something about that. Anyway, here is the recipe:
